Annalisa Di Roma (nata a Gioia del Colle (BA), il 28.07.1973) Professore Associato in Disegno Industriale (S.S.D. Icar-13) dal dicembre 2016, Ricercatore universitario in Disegno Industriale dal Dicembre 2008 il Politecnico di Bari. Le principali attività di ricerca scientifica si incentrano sui temi relativi al rapporto tra design artistico e design industriale nella loro rispettive declinazioni artigianali e tecnologiche ed alla trasformazione del linguaggio estetico, figurativo e funzionale dei manufatti e dei prodotti.
Si interessa di cultura digitale contemporanea, di strumenti digitali nelle reti di comunicazione e nei mezzi di produzioni che attraverso la modellizzazione virtuale, la prototipazione rapida, la manifattura digitale e l’applicazione di materiali intelligenti hanno permesso l’introduzione di nuove tipologie di prodotti.

2. 'Scientific research activities'
The research interests, starting from the studies conducted during the PhD, focus on the one hand on the issues of typological and constructive updating of the product and system in the digital context; on the other hand on the updating of product meaning, in relation to relational dynamics and specific cultural languages.
Specifically, on the one hand, the research contribution is in the area of updating the methods that refer to the technical means to support the stages of project development and computer-assisted production, with a specific focus on the relationship between traditional systems and systems that refer to enabling technologies (for the ceramics and stone sectors); on the other hand, the relationship between the scientific model and the cultural model underlying the aesthetic models of reference.
Also at the center of theoretical reflection is the meaning of contemporary material culture, in the observation that society's transition to post-digital poses new cultural demands on design disciplines. This perspective relates in-depth studies on issues of technological advancement, considered in line with the expectation of innovation expressed by production systems, to studies aimed at the innovation of meaning from material and immaterial productions, starting from the specificities offered by traditional contexts.
Over the years, a number of lines of application research have matured that refer to: "computational generative design and digital fabrication," "design for wellness and health," "innovation of meaning for useful objects (with particular reference to the field that characterizes food consumption)," "sustainable design from food waste."
