Antonio Fino

ANTONELLO FINO was born in Bari on October 15, 1986. Since 2022, he has been a Research Fellow (RtdA) in History of Architecture (ICAR 18) at the ArCoD Department - Polytechnic University of Bari.

He earned his Ph.D. in "Architecture: Innovation and Heritage" (32nd Cycle), a joint program offered by the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture Sciences of the Polytechnic University of Bari and the Department of Architecture of the University of Rome "Roma Tre." His Ph.D. thesis focused on the History of Ancient Architecture (ICAR 18) with a specific topic on Architectural Decoration in Sicily, from the Archaic Age to Romanization, under the guidance of Prof. G. Rocco.

He graduated in Architecture from the Polytechnic University of Bari, presenting a thesis on The Palestra and the West Gymnasium of Kos. Additionally, in 2016, he obtained a diploma from the School of Specialization in Architectural and Landscape Heritage at the same university, conducting research on the ancient public architecture of Agrigento.

2. Research Activity and Archaeological Missions:
Since 2008, he has actively participated in field research both in Italy and abroad. In Greece, he collaborated with the Polytechnic University of Bari on ancient sites in Kos, Rhodes (Town, Atabyros Mount, Ialysos), Kalymnos, and Mytilini on Lesbos Island. He also participated in archaeological missions in Tunisia, working on the Roman theater in Altiburos under the direction of Antonino di Vita in 2009, and in Libya, specifically in Leptis Magna, on missions led by G. Rocco for the Polytechnic University of Bari. From 2012, he has been part of research projects focusing on the ancient city of Agrigento, collaborating with the local administration of the Parco and various research groups, including the University of Catania (with L.M. Caliò) and Freie Universität Berlin (with M. Trümper, T. Lappi). Moreover, since 2017, he has been involved in research on the ancient sites of Byllis and Klos in Albania as part of the Polytechnic University of Bari's research team.

3. Scientific Affiliations:
Since 2018, he has been selected as an ordinary member of the Center for the History of Ancient Architecture (CSSAR).

4. Editorial Activity:
He has been a member of the editorial board of the journal "Thiasos. Review of Archeology and Ancient Architecture" (rated A class by Anvur, ISSN 2279-7297) since its foundation in 2011. Additionally, since 2017, he has been a member of the Editorial Committee of the magazine "Bulletin of the Center of Studies for the History of Architecture," founded in 1943 (ISSN 2531-7903). Furthermore, he joined the editorial staff of the magazine "QuAD. Quaderni di Architettura e Design" (ISSN 2611-4437) since its establishment in 2018.

WORK EXPERIENCE IN THE HERITAGE FIELD:
Since 2012, he has worked as an expert in ancient architecture at the Archaeological and Landscape Park of the Valley of the Temples of Agrigento (protected by UNESCO), participating in various excavation, restoration, and enhancement projects.
In 2009, under the supervision of Professor Antonino Di Vita, he contributed to the enhancement project of the Severian Basilica in Leptis Magna.
From 2007 to 2008, he collaborated with the DISUM Department at the University of Foggia, working as an expert in ancient architectural reconstruction for the Itinera project, under the direction of Prof. Giulio Volpe, on the archaeological site of Faragola (Ascoli Satriano, FG).
